Tyler Gathro is a photo-based artist with 15 years of professional experience and 7 years as an educator. He is a graduate of The Cooper Union School of Art in New York City and Yale Divinity School where he studied photography, printmaking, documentary filmmaking, religion, and sacred and religious art. He has traveled the world as a photographer and runs his own art and photography studio. He has exhibited across the country and is a 2018 recipient of the Ella Lyman Cabot Trust Grant. He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and currently resides outside of Salt Lake City, Utah.
As an educator, Tyler has recognized that many photographers and artists struggle to fuse technical precision, artistic vision, and image making as a sacred act. This inspired him to create this program. His students have transformed their photography, building impressive portfolios and embarking on fulling creative careers.
